Rev. Theodore D. Marsh, Jr.
1953-2018
Rev. Theodore Daniel Marsh, Jr., age 64, of Hedgesville, W.Va., died on Friday, September 7, 2018 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born November 22, 1953 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of Helen May Mayne Marsh of Halethorpe, Md., and the late Theodore Daniel Marsh, Sr.
He was an Associate Member of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church. Rev. Marsh was a 1971 graduate of Lansdowne High School, earned an Associate degree from Catonsville Community College, a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Baltimore and was a graduate of Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C. He was currently serving as pastor of the Mt. Zion UMC, Grace UMC and Cherry Run UMC three-point charge in Morgan County, W.Va., was active with the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission and served on the board of Camp Joy. Rev. Marsh enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, teaching and was an accomplished woodworker.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cathy Eileen Rix Marsh, at home; his children, Matthew Aaron Marsh of Berkeley Springs and Sarah Beth Williams and her husband Joseph, Sr. of Dundalk, Md.; two step children, Jason Alan Shiflett of Frederick, Md., and Charles Aaron Shiflett and his wife Mary of Abingdon, Md.; three brothers, Gary Alan Marsh of Halethorpe, Md., Ward David Marsh of Woodlawn, Md., and Mark Wayne Marsh of Linthicum, Md.; three grandchildren, Kaylah Marie Marsh, Joseph Daniel Williams, Jr. and Jonathan Blake Williams, all of Dundalk, Md.; one step grandson, Jesse Alan Shiflett of Abingdon, Md., and one niece, Chelsie Marsh of Halethorpe, Md.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 5377 Martinsburg Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Michael Leedom and the Rev. Dr. Conrad Link officiating. Interment will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
