The owners of WXDC, known to local listeners as Max 92.9, have said on air that they will be losing rights to use their broadcast tower located in Berkeley Springs at the end of the month.
According to multiple sources, station owner Dianne Smith has announced on air that the station’s lease to use the tower equipment to broadcast will run out without the option to renew it.
The station reaches listeners in Berkeley Springs, Hancock, Southern Fulton and other areas in the tri-state region. The station itself operates out of Buddy Lou’s restaurant on Main Street in Hancock. It relocated there after the closure of WDHC radio station in Berkeley Springs following the sale of the tower to Metro Radio in Northern Virginia.
Company officials with Metro Radio and WXDC did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the lease deal or the future of the radio station.
