Police seek information about driver in accident with injuries

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information about a driver involved in a traffic accident that resulted in injuries last Wednesday, August 14.

The incident occurred on Martinsburg Road just east of Goller Road at the intersection with River Road.

Cpl. Kevin Barney investigated the crash with assistance from the West Virginia State Police.

Barney reported one vehicle was traveling eastbound on Martinsburg Road and another westbound. A third vehicle – only identified as a green van — pulled out of River Road between the two and this vehicle was heading eastbound.

The first vehicle eastbound swerved to the right to miss the other vehicle just east of Goller Road. The vehicle went down over the embankment and came to rest against a tree, said police.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, motorist stopped to assist the injured parties. A firefighter on the scene was able to extricate the female in this vehicle. This injured female was transported to WVU East Hospital in Martinsburg for injuries sustained.

Witness accounts were unable to provide any information about the vehicle that appeared to cause the accident other than to describe it as a green van.
