Peggy J. Kyne
1934-2020
Peggy Joan Kyne, age 86, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 15, 1934 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Willard Dewey and Nellie Russell Sherrard Sheppard.
She was a member of Wesleyan Chapel in Berkeley Springs.
Peggy attended Berkeley Springs High School.
She spent her life as a homemaker, wife and mother.
For years, she took care of children in her home, for a total of sixty-seven children.
Peggy enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Marcia Gay Cross and her husband Eddie of New Market, Tenn., Donald Clifford Kyne, Jr. and his wife Debbie and Michael Steven Kyne and his wife Dionne, all of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Barbara Michael of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Donald Sheppard of Berkeley Springs, William “Bill” Sheppard of Norfolk, Va.; four grandchildren, Dustin Kyne, Lindsey Kyne, Michael Kyne, all of Berkeley Springs and Madison Kyne of Haines City, Fla.; one great-grandson, Issac Shaffer of Berkeley Springs, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Clifford “Pete” Kyne, Sr. on March 21, 1999; her daughter, Melissa Joan Payne on July 26, 2020; one sister, Anna Perry; three brothers, Harry Vaughn Sheppard, Charles Russell Sheppard and Paul Franklin Sheppard.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family received friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Pastor Matthew Swope officiated. Burial was in Greenway Cemetery.
