Paw Paw voters pick Abe as new mayor

Voters in the Town of Paw Paw have selected a new mayor and council to take office on July 1.

Darlene Abe beat out appointed mayor Tina Meyers by a landslide in a three-way mayoral race, pulling in 82 votes over Meyers’ 12. A third candidate, William Hayes, brought in 11 votes during early voting and election day balloting on Tuesday, June 11.

No candidate ran for the position of Town Recorder.

The top five vote-getters in the Paw Paw council race will take office on July 1 for two-year terms in the town government. Council race winners are Seth Corbett (61 votes), Jeff Palmer (60 votes), Sherry Rowzee (54 votes), John Pritchard (51 votes) and Holly Palmer (49 votes).

There are 448 registered voters in the Town of Paw Paw, according to the Morgan County Clerk’s office.
