Paw Paw recorder to take mayor seat

by KATE SHUNNEY

Paw Paw’s elected Town Recorder, Tina Meyers, has accepted the town’s mayor seat following the resignation of elected mayor Tim Mose last month.

By town ordinance, Meyers became Acting Mayor following Mose’s resignation. During a special council meeting on Tuesday, November 27, Meyers officially accepted the mayoral post.

Meyers was elected for a two-year term as Recorder in June 2017. Her term was about to expire this coming summer. Instead, she will serve out the rest of Mose’s term, which runs through June of 2021.

During the special meeting, council members also voted to appoint John Pritchard to the town council. Pritchard will fill a council seat left vacant by the resignation of councilwoman Betty Jo Henry.

Henry resigned on the same day as Mose. According to election records, the two reside at the same location in Paw Paw. Mose’s resignation letter cited health reasons for leaving office.

According to town officials, Samantha Lindner was appointed as Town Recorder during last week’s special meeting. Lindner will serve until the June 2019 municipal election, when town residents will elect a new recorder and five council members.
