1938-2018

Patricia Ruth Brown, 80, of Great Cacapon, died Monday, September 24, 2018 at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.

Born January 28, 1938 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Michael Farris and Nellie Virginia Kidwell Farris Stotler.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Great Cacapon.

She attended public schools in Great Cacapon.

She had worked seasonally at National Fruit in Winchester and retired from the housekeeping department at Cacapon State Park. She had been a homemaker in recent years.

She liked bus trips, playing bingo and had been an avid bowler since the 1970s.

Surviving are her son, Roger Brown, Great Cacapon; one sister, Bernice Gloyd, Great Cacapon; one brother, Neal Farris, Rome, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Deseree Trail, Hedgesville, Jackie Sherrard and Jason Brown, both of Great Cacapon; Kami Brown and Tabitha Brown, both of Greensboro, N.C.; Tiffany Hovermale, Ivory Brown and David Brown, all of Berkeley Springs; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul William Brown on April 14, 2003; two children, Darla McCarty and Ronnie Brown; step-father, Howard Stotler and two brothers, Dwan Farris and Glen Farris.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 28 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Dick Voorhaar officiated. Interment was in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
