Pastor Michael Wayne Rosensteel, age 59, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 29, 1959 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of Raymond Lee and Caroline Mae Madden Rosensteel of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He was the Pastor of The Refuge Community Church in Berkeley Springs.
He was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and attended the Welton School of Ministry in Morgan County, W.Va.
He worked as a technician with DuPont in Front Royal, Va.
For the past 18 years, Pastor Mike served as a lay pastor and pastor serving the community of Berkeley Springs.
He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, and coaching softball.
In addition to his parents, Pastor Mike is survived by his wife of 37 ½ years, Esta Lee Clark Rosensteel, at home; his children, Matthew Justin Rosensteel and his wife Jacqueline, Nathan Boone Rosensteel and his wife Hannah, Lucas Michael Rosensteel and his wife Desirae, Kristia Leigh Bard and her husband Brian, Christopher Lee Copenhaver and his wife Bailey, and Kylee Renee Cox, all of Berkeley Springs; his sister, Sharon Elaine Payne of Appleton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Ellie, Preston, Claire, Avarie and Wayson Rosensteel, all of Berkeley Springs and two nieces, Amy Jo Harshman and her husband Nate and son Oliver of Westfield, Ind., and Mindy Leanne Grimes and her husband Jeff and daughter Addison of Newfane, N.Y.
Mike was a father to the fatherless and provided a home and refuge for the lost. He took many young people under his wing, impacting their lives far beyond the reach of his own.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at The Refuge Community Church, 33 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastors Joseph Payne and Rich Ellis officiating.
Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
