The Hancock High School Panther Marching Band traveled to Owings Mills, Maryland, last week to perform a halftime show for the Stevenson University Band Day football game on Saturday, September 22.
The Panther Band took the field with seven other high school bands as well as the Stevenson University Mustang Marching Band to perform a variety of pop songs for the Stevenson versus Delaware Valley game.
Highlights from the show included such pop songs as Rhianna’s “We Found Love,” Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” and the 80s hit “Take on Me” by Aha.
Before the halftime show, each band was showcased at a luncheon where they took turns playing their favorite tunes for the fall season. Hancock performed “Feel It Still” by Portugal The Man.
The Panther Band joined over 500 students from various bands to perform as one massive band.
“It was an awesome experience for our students, one that I think they will remember for a very long time,” said band director Susan Mott.
Under Mott, the Panther Band has grown in number from four students in 2014-2015 to 35 this school year.
Last spring, the band traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia, to play at the Busch Gardens music festival and tour the historic area.
The band will be performing at the Hancock Halloween Parade, Mercersburg Parade, Martinsburg Apple Harvest Festival Parade, and the Chambersburg Christmas Parade.
This school year, the band’s holiday concert will be held December 11 and spring concert on April 30.
