Nicholas P. Serdich

 1939-2018

Nicholas Paul Serdich, 79, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his home.

Born May 15, 1939 in Grant Town, he was the son of the late Joseph Leo and Marjorie Tarasuk Serdich.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a graduate of Fairview High School, Fairview and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown.

He played basketball with Fairview High School’s 1957 state championship team and with WVU during the 1958-1959 season.

He had worked as a sales engineer with FMC, Fairmont then was a teacher with the Preston County school system.

He liked fishing, bird hunting, vintage sports cars and antiques.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, W. Nancy Shedd Serdich, at home; his children, Wyoma Hulton, Hyde Park, N.Y., Andrew Serdich, East Fallowfield, Pa. and Elizabeth Hartley, Berkeley Springs; one sister, Frances Marshall, Osprey, Fla.; one brother, Joseph Serdich, Longs, S.C.; six grandchildren, Rachel Corey, Randolph, N.J., Tyler Hulton and Nicholas Hulton, both of Hyde Park, Arianna Hartley and Christina Hartley, both of Berkeley Springs and Caiden Serdich, East Fallowfield; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.

Services and interment will be private. Celebration of life services will be Saturday, June 23, 1-4 p.m. at Fairview Middle School, 17 Jesse’s Run Road, Fairview. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501.
