Nancy Wyld Hewitt Garbark 1925-2018

Nancy Wyld Hewitt Garbark, age 93, of Berkeley Springs, WV, formerly of Farmington, PA, died on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle. Born February 22, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry V. and Kathryn Claire Weckerley Wyld. She was a member of Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church and valued her relationship and responsibilities to her church serving across the years in various capacities, Sunday school teacher, choir member, Deacon and Elder. Nancy, known as Maggie, was a graduate of Edgewood High School in Pittsburgh from which she maintained and cherished many lifelong friendships. For most of her life she was occupied as mother and homemaker. The avocations she enjoyed were playing bridge, golf and watching baseball. She was a member of Foxglove Garden Club in Berkeley Springs. Nancy also loved to observe the birds that frequented the bath and feeding stations on the deck just outside her living room window. Nancy is survived by her son, the Rev. Dr. James A. Hewitt III and his wife Mary Alice of Woodbridge, VA, two grandchildren, James Aaron Hewitt and Mary Elizabeth “Emmy” Paradise, both of Harrisonburg, VA, four great grandchildren, James Hewitt, Eliza Hewitt, Anna Paradise and Lily Paradise, all of Harrisonburg, VA, a nephew, Tom Boyle of Berkeley Springs and a niece, Kathi Boyle of Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two great loves, her husbands, James Albert Hewitt, Jr. and George Henry Garbark, two sons, David Wayne Hewitt and Harry Wyld Hewitt, her daughter-in-law, Lynda Driver Hewitt and two sisters, Claire Wyld Pearson and Ruth Wyld Boyle. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church, 97 S. Mercer Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with the Rev. Dr. Robert S. Osborne officiating. Private interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church, P.O.
