Mildred R. Flowers

1916-2018

Mildred Roman Flowers, age 101, of Hancock, Md., passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

Born in Hancock October 14, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Eliason and Minnie (Coonrod) Roman, and the widow of James F. Flowers, Sr., who passed away on April 14, 1998.

She was employed as a seamstress by Jacob Brothers and London Fog, in Hancock, for many years.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She enjoyed playing bingo with friends at the Clear Spring American Legion.

She is survived by two daughters, Joann Appel and Carolyn Myers, both of Hancock; one son, James F. Flowers, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Hancock; three granddaughters, Becky, and her husband, Jeff, and Kelly and Lisa; three grandsons, Dennis and his wife, Marlene, and David and Eric; three great-granddaughters, Tiffany and her fiance, Tyler, Jaclyn and her husband, Sean, and Lindsay; one great-grandson, Brady; five great-great-granddaughters, Scotlyn, Nikole, Kenna, Henley, and Skylar; and one great-great-grandson, Wyatt.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy McCoy; two sisters, Margaret Mann and Sarah Trail; and two brothers, Justin and Marvin Roman.

The family wishes to express a very special thanks to Mildred’s caregivers with Hospice of Washington County, Shirley Cubbage, Bonnie Shoemaker, Sharon Warner, Debbie Reed and Carolyn Manning.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 11 a.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main Street, Hancock, Md. Rev. Michael Forney will officiate.

Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, in Hancock.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday, June 8, 2018, from 2 until 4 p.m., and 6 until 8 p.m.
