1947-2019

Michael Clark Wolford, age 71, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the Goodwill Retirement Center, in Grantsville Md.

Born December 24, 1947, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Theodore and Dorothy (Yost) Wolford.

He graduated from Hancock High School in 1965; and served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam, in the 35th K-9 Company as a dog handler, from 1968 to 1969.

He was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church; the James W. Bowers Lodge 173 Masonic Lodge, in Hancock; the Hancock Lions Club; and the Vietnam Veterans of America.

He retired from employment with the State of Maryland Dept. of Juvenile Services, after 34 years.

Michael is survived by one son, Shane M. Wolford and his wife, DeShaunte, of Keyser, W.Va.; one granddaughter Mykenzie Wolford, (the light of his life) of Wheeling, W.Va.; one brother, Ted Wolford; of Ocala, Fla.; one sister, Irma Wolford, of San Antonio, Tx.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Judy McCarty; a special niece, Debbie Reed; and the staff of the Goodwill Retirement Center.

A memorial service will be held at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, at 12 noon, on Saturday, December 14, 2019. Pastor Dave Sutton will officiate, and Military Honors will be conducted by the Tri-State Honor Guard.

A special service, for the family only, will be held at 11 a.m., preceding the memorial service.
