McCauley hearing rescheduled

by Trish Rudder

The preliminary hearing for the Berkeley Springs man who is charged with killing Riley Crossman, 15, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, June 12 at 2 p.m. in Morgan County Magistrate Court.

It was scheduled for Friday, May 24 to be heard by Magistrate Kermit M. Ambrose.

Andy J. McCauley, 41, who was charged with murder, has been held without bond in Eastern Regional Jail since May 16.

McCauley’s defense council filed a motion on May 21 to disqualify Morgan County Magistrate Ambrose because the victim’s maternal grandmother is a judicial officer in Morgan County.

The rescheduled hearing will be heard by Berkeley County Magistrate Richard Stephens who was assigned to McCauley’s case.
