Maxwell A. McCallister

1940-2019

Maxwell Arlo McCallister, 79, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, October 18, 2019 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born July 25, 1940 in Charleston, he was the son of the late Charles Raymond and Missouri Elkins McCallister.

He was a Christian.

He graduated from Boone County High School in Madison.

He served four years in the United States Air Force.

He was active with the VFW Post #4019 and the Tri-State Honor Guard in Berkeley Springs.

He liked hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anthea Maxwell Penny McCallister at home; one son, Charles “Chad” McCallister, Berkeley Springs and one sister, Iris McLaughlin, Morgantown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Iva Dare and four brothers, Charles, Camerson, Clifford and Richard McCallister.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 24 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 36 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs with services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Leedom officiating.

Burial with military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
