Max H. McQuade

1936-2019

Max H. McQuade, 83, of McConnellsburg, Pa., passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa.

Max was born on November 9, 1936 in McConnellsburg, Pa., the son of the late Daniel F. and the late Mildred Hixson McQuade.

Max married the late Donna Marie Shaw on June 22, 1957.

Max served in the United States Army, actively from 1954 until 1956, and eventually honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1963.

Max was a mechanic for PennDot until he retired. He was also a licensed auctioneer.

Max was very active in Fulton County, serving as a Coach in the Fulton County Little League, a life member of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the American Legion Post 561. Max was an avid fisherman with many tall tales. But Max’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Max is survived by six children, Rose Jackson of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Max E. (husband of Jody) McQuade of Greencastle, Pa., Zindy McQuade of McConnellsburg, Pa., Jackie (wife of the late Vincent) Carbaugh of McConnellsburg, Pa., Bobby (husband of Renee) McQuade of McConnellsburg, Pa. and Tammy (wife of Russell) Decker of Harrisonville, Pa., 14 grandchildren, Angie, E.J., Codi, Daniel, Zachary, Jacob, Laci, Robert Jr., Dalton, Chelsey, Shianne, Tyler, Garrett and Ethan and 13 great grandchildren, Teegan, Beau, Wyatt, Makena, Layden, Ariana, Leyla, Marissa, Shayna, Baaylea, Johnathan, Bentley, Aron and Holden. Max is also survived by two sisters, Sara Jane Hamil of Las Vegas, Nev., and Emma Jean (wife of Donald) DeShong of McConnellsburg, Pa.

Max is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years Donna McQuade and four brothers, Raymond, Donald, Marlin and Dale and one sister Neva Cutchall.

An evening of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home in McConnellsburg, Pa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Union Cemetery.

The family has entrusted Max’s care to Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 North Second Street, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
