A Rio man who was wanted here in connection with theft and for violating his probation was arrested on Thursday morning at a residence in the Posey Hollow area of southern Morgan County.

Kevin R. Cain

around 8 a.m. on November 29 at a residence on Rattlesnake Lane. Police found Kevin R. Cain, 44, hiding in an area behind a wall in the upstairs of the residence, said Bohrer in a press release.

Cain had been wanted by authorities for several weeks following his release from jail.

He was indicted this September by the Morgan County Grand Jury for burglary and grand larceny. Cain is alleged to have broken into a Great Cacapon home and have stolen a large amount of gold and precious gem jewelry.

According to Sheriff Bohrer, Cain is also a person of interest in a burglary of the Shawnee Springs Market in Cross Junction where an ATM machine and truck were taken. Cain is also wanted in connection with the theft of a vehicle from Hardy County.

Officers found a gray Ford Escape in the woods near where Cain was apprehended. The vehicle was previously reported stolen.

According to Bohrer, two other people were present in the residence at the time of Cain’s arrest on Thursday but they were not charged. More charges against Cain and others are expected as the investigation continues, said Bohrer.

Cain was arraigned in Morgan County Magistrate Court and is being held at the Eastern Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.
