“Miracle on Main Street,” an event planned by Main Street Hancock was held on Saturday, November 30 and ran from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.
Many of those who attended the event were sure that this event would become a tradition on Main Street in Hancock. The Saturday evening air was a bit chilly as dusk overtook daylight. Because of this, the best place to start was at the “Hancock Farmers Market,” where handouts were available for the Guided Tour of Main Street, along with a list of participants and a map of the area. Visitors also could warm up at a cozy fire pit before embarking onto the Main Street attractions.

After strolling along Main Street, attendees were encouraged to enjoy the tree lighting festivities at Joseph Hancock Park, which began at 6:30 p.m.
For those who wanted a ride from the park to the Main Street event, a free hay ride was provided.
There were 52 “stations” to cruise by on Main Street during the evening, and those downtown had an opportunity to view 46 decorated parking meters throughout the town.
When stopping at one of the vendor or sponsor stations, visitors would collect a “stamp” for an event prize drawing later in the evening. In some cases, the sponsor would provide free cookies or other snack items as well as a beverage.

The collection of Christmas decorated meters displayed quite an array of artistic effort, readily apparent in many of the entries. Hancock in Motion led the meter decorating effort, recruiting groups to dress the meters up for the holidays.
One such decorated meter was #42 by April Davis in which the meter depicted a Hancock Middle/High School Panthers Marching Band member in typical uniform.
The winner of the Decorated Meter Contest will be determined later this week, according to event planners, and many participants and attendees are anxiously awaiting those results.
