Little League decides to suspend season
The Morgan County Little League has voted to suspend their 2020 season. League officials announced the move in a social media post last Friday, June 5.
West Virginia’s governor had opened up the option for youth sports to go ahead under certain guidelines meant to reduce contact between individuals to protect against the spread of COVID-19.
“With a long discussion on the rules and guidelines that the state has put on us to place baseball. These rules and guidelines would take the fun out of playing and the kids would lose interest in playing. You can’t play baseball and not be allowed to show sportsmanship by shaking hands, fist bumps or high fives or the kids not being allowed to touch each other or sit next to each other. With a majority vote from the managers, coaches and BOD (board of directors) we have suspended MCLL baseball season for 2020,” the league posted.
Families can get a refund or credit toward next season on Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19 at the ballfield complex from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
