Lewis Ray “Pete” Mason
1953-2020
Lewis Ray “Pete” Mason, age 66, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at his sister’s home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born November 4, 1953 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clarence “Bud” and Ethelyn Anna Lopp Mason.
He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Lewis was a 1972 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
He worked in the maintenance department with U.S. Silica and Cacapon State Park.
Lewis enjoyed walking his dogs, watching movies, listening to music, tinkering around the house, collecting lighthouses and could purchase a vehicle on one day and by the next day have it disassembled.
Lewis is survived by his children, Candace Mason Klein and her husband Mike of Gloucester, Va., Matthew Mason of Berkeley Springs; his siblings, Carol Sue Fox, Kathy Burkhart, Sterling Mason, Pastor Kenny Mason, John Mason, all of Berkeley Springs, David Mason of Bridgeton, N.J., Gary Mason of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Hannah and Ava Klein both of Gloucester, Va.; his beloved dog, Jenny, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Nancy Mason, Mary Ann Mason Rankin, Norman “Tator” Mason and his beloved dog friend, Georgia.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Kenny Mason officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
