1936-2019

Lewis Ray Waugh, age 83, of Waynesboro, Pa. died Thursday evening November 7, 2019 in his home.

Born March 15, 1936 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ray Calvin and Zelphia (Lutman) Waugh.

He and his wife Elsie May “Betty” (Breeden) Waugh were married July 5, 1958. She died on January 24, 2013.

Lewis retired after 38 years of employment with the Western Union Telegraph Co.

He attended Grace Bible Church of Greencastle.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren, he was an avid hunter where he enjoyed hunting in West Virginia and Virginia and was a fan of the 2019 World Series Champions, the Washington Nationals baseball team.

Surviving family are one daughter, Ronda Hykes and husband Timothy of Greencastle; three grandchildren, Peter, Matthew and Mary Hykes and one sister Phyllis Jean Pierce of Big Pool, Md.

In addition to his parents and wife, Lewis was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Kendall.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15 at 11 a.m. from the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle Street, Greencastle with Pastor Rev. J. Herman Fisler officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Franklin County Special Olympics 230 Matthew Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
