The Berkeley Springs High School Indians hosted the Keyser Golden Tornado in a football contest at Morgan Field Friday night August 31. Berkeley Springs was looking to pull the upset win over the #12 ranked Keyser team, but Keyser rolled to a 47-0 win.

The first quarter the Indians and Golden Tornado were deadlocked at 0-0 behind stellar defensive play from both teams. The second quarter saw the Keyser Wing T offense finally start to click and wear down the young Tribe and explode for 26 second quarter points. The Indians had several offensive drives, but turnovers doomed any scoring opportunities.

The third quarter saw Keyser continue to move the ball up and down the field and increase their lead to 40-0 with a pair of touchdowns.

The fourth quarter was shortened to five minutes and Keyser added one more score for the final 47-0.

Berkeley Springs did not get much offense mustered up against the Keyser defense. The biggest play of the game was a 26 yard pass from sophomore Shawn Ott to senior receiver Ty’Jae Armstrong.

Defensively the Indians were led by Larry Miller (five solo tackles, one assist), Peyton Thompson (four solo tackles, one assist) and Aaron Armentrout (three solo tackles).

Berkeley Springs (0-2) will now travel to Francis Scott Key (Md.) Friday, September 7 for a 7 p.m. contest.
