Kenneth C. Hovermale

1936-2019

Kenneth Christopher Hovermale, 83, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Care Haven Center in Martinsburg.

Born March 27, 1936 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Harry Christian and Cecelia Ellen Michael Hovermale.

He was a Christian.

He attended the Mt. Vernon School.

He first worked cutting pulp wood, he later worked at Newbraugh’s Feed Store and then as a mechanic with T.H. Compton Trucking and Bonded Carriers. He repaired and sold bicycles at his home.

He was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics Council #117 in Berkeley Springs.

He liked fishing, yard sales and was on a Sunday night bowling league.

He is survived by his grandchildren, April Eckerd, Tonya Hovermale and Matthew Hovermale, all of Berkeley Springs; one great-grandson; two sisters, Lola Mason, Berkeley Springs and Zellamae Ryner, Palmyra, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Elizabeth Harden Hovermale on November 28, 1999; one son, Randy Hovermale; two sisters, Madeline Hovermale and Daisy VanGosen and one brother, Stanley Hovermale.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 19 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs where friends may call from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Pastor Kenny Mason will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
