1942-2021

John Lee Weller, Sr., 78, passed peacefully into his eternal life on Thursday, April 22, 2021, surrounded by family at his home on Hollow Road, Hancock, Md. He was born September 10, 1942, in Hancock, Md.

John was the son of the late Michael B. and Frances E. (Johnson) Weller; and the husband of Linda Louise (Younker) Weller, whom he married on September 6, 1969 in Hancock.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Allen Weller, and Dale Weller; sister, Betty (Weller) Suarez; brothers-in-law, Kenny, Stanley, and Leon Younker, Paul Moats, Jeff Spielman, and Doug Layman; and sister-in-law, Lillie Younker. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John Lee Weller, Jr. and his wife Lisa (Stout), of Grafton, W.Va.; grandson, Logan Stout and his wife, Paige, of Simpson, W.Va.; granddaughters, Jenna Stout, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Callie Stout, of Charlottesville, Va., and Cassandra Stout, of Morgantown, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Patsy Moats, Wilma Keefer, Janie Spielman, Audrey (Todd) Edgerton, Etta Mae Younker, Hana Hahn (Younker), and Shirley Weller; a special aunt, Louise Fritz; several special nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; and many special friends whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with so very much.

John enjoyed dirt track and NASCAR racing. He generously shared his knowledge with friends and family, helping by teaching them how to plant, harvest, build, and repair nearly anything. He worked hard doing many different things, including farming and salvage, and was employed by JLG, in McConnellsburg, Pa. for many years. He was a Christian by faith and attended Orchard Ridge First Church of God.

The family appreciates all of the prayers and support by friends far and wide, and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Washington County over these past few weeks of care that allowed him to remain at home as he wished. The family received friends on Monday, April 26, 2021, from 2 until 5 p.m., at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md. A funeral service was held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home, following the visitation. Interment will be at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
