1944-2019

Janet Marie Lutman, age 74, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, W.Va.

Born December 5, 1944 in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd James and Catherine Virginia Kesecker Lutman.

She had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church until its closing and then became a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Spohrs Crossroads where she attended Sunday School and belonged to the United Methodist Women.

She was a 1963 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

In addition to serving as the Secretary/Treasurer of the family business, Mt. View Orchards, Inc., she worked at Vanguard Products in Berkeley Springs, as a seamstress at Londontown Manufacturing in Hancock and lastly as a switchboard operator with the Martinsburg Journal.

She had also been a member of the Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Company Women’s Auxiliary.

Janet is survived by her daughter Michelle Catherine Cain and her husband Robert Steven of Aiken, S.C.; a sister Nancy Louise Hendershot of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a brother Gary Wayne Lutman of Hedgesville; two grandchildren, Cody James Cain and Jonathan Robert Cain, both of Aiken, S.C.; two nieces Christy Lynn Angliss of Greencastle, Pa., and Robin Suzanne Thompson of Hedgesville, W.Va., and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 15, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 5377 Martinsburg Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Stephen Angliss and Pastor Tony Pirrone officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
