James W. Spurlock, Sr.
1934-2019
James W. Spurlock, Sr., 84, formerly of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 under the care of Haven Hospice of Orange Park, Fla.
Born September 12, 1934 in Jonesville, Va., he was the son of the late Caynor N. Spurlock and Stella M. Gobble.
He worked as an engineer at Hood College where he retired and moved to Florida.
He liked camping in his RV and commandeering his pontoon boat on the St. John River.
He is survived by his companion of 25 years Violet Bryner; two sons, James Spurlock, Jr. and David Spurlock, both of Berkeley Springs; two daughters, Bonnie Spurlock New, Upper Marlboro, Md. and Sandy Spurlock-Thompson, Berkeley Springs; three grandsons, Kevin Spurlock, Jason Spurlock and David Spurlock; two granddaughters, Dawn Greig and Kimberly Spurlock and one great-grandson.
The family will hold a celebration of life ceremony at a later date.
