1922-2018

James “Warren” Parr, 96 of Paw Paw, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his family while under the care of Hospice.

Born on October 1, 1922 in Great Cacapon, W.Va., he was the son of the late James P. Parr and Virginia M. (Whisner) Parr.

Warren worked as an electrician for Rubbermaid until retirement.

He was a quiet man but a man of strength and wisdom. He had a brilliant mind and could work on most anything.

He had a strong faith in his Heavenly Father and his last words were “Lord Help me.”

He was known as Pap Pap to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They shared many happy times with him camping and traveling. He will always remain an inspiration to his children and their families.

He was a member of Woodrow Union Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II where he was a radio technician decoding morse code.

He loved to hunt and spend time with his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Parr. Warren was married to the love of his life, Madeline “Nim” N. (Nelson) Parr for 74 years and ten months. They were married on December 31, 1943 in Washington, D.C. They enjoyed many years of travel after retirement.

Surviving with his wife, is a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Weidner (Walt) of Paw Paw, W.Va.; a son, Philip Parr (Audrey) of Nixa, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jeff Small (Allison), Chaunette Small, David Small (Tricia), Bryan Crane (Kelli) and nine great-grandchildren, Abella Maddie, Aryonna, David James, Courtney and Camryn, Kendall, Brooke, Rusty. Recently added to their family was another grandson, Russell Weidner (Shannon).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 18, 2018 in Woodrow Union Church, Paw Paw, W.Va., at 2 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Travis and Pastor Frank Lambert officiating.

Interment will follow in Woodrow Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the church.

All arrangements are being handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va.
