Jackie L. McBee
1936-2020
Jackie Landon McBee, age 83, of Hedgesville, W.Va., died on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.
Born November 26, 1936 in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Renzie Dowl and Thelma Elizabeth Householder McBee.
He was a member of Johnsontown Bible Church in Hedgesville, W.Va., where he served on the Official Board for many years.
He took Mission Trips to Haiti and Spain to help with various projects for the people.
While in Haiti, he fell in love with the opportunity to provide radios to the Haitian people in order for them to hear Christian messages and music.
He supported this ministry for many years. When he became homebound his only complaint was that he could not be out helping people.
His devotion to his Savior, his family and his community were evident to all he knew. He was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
He worked at Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation for many years. Upon retirement, he sold real estate for Perry Realty.
He coached little league for many years, loved the Mountaineers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Baltimore Orioles and playing softball on the church team.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ruth Naomi Files McBee, at home; two daughters, Jill Elizabeth Kilmer and her husband David and Jodi Lynn Hess, all of Hedgesville; one sister, Kay Shilling of Delaware; one brother, Douglas McBee of Virginia; four grandchildren, Aaron Landon Kilmer and his wife Sarah, Ashley Elizabeth Elmore and her husband Jimmy, Noah Austin Hess and Genesis Marie Koepke, all of Hedgesville; one great granddaughter, Barb Elmore of Hedgesville; many nieces and nephews and his “granddog” Riley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Randy Allen Files, who they raised as their son and two sisters, Joan Potter and Patricia Fox. Special thanks to nurse Tinna Connor, Pastor Daryl Welch and Rev. Bill Kearns.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Johnsontown Bible Church, 68 Camp Frame Road, Hedgesville, W.Va. with Pastor Daryl Welch, and Rev. Bill Kearns officiating. Interment was private.
