Iva L. Breeden
1940-2019
Iva Lou Breeden, age 79, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born January 22, 1940 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Benjamin and Edna Marie Close Alderton.
She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, where she was active with her church with the United Methodist Woman, Sunday socials and Vacation Bible School.
Iva Lou graduated from Berkeley Springs High School.
She worked as an officer manager until her retirement with the West Virginia State Tax Department in Martinsburg, W.Va. Iva Lou had worked for in prior years for Trump & Trump Attorney at Law, War Memorial Hospital and T. H. Compton Trucking, all in Berkeley Springs.
She was a member of the Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, she was a PASS volunteer and a Hospice of the Panhandle volunteer.
Iva Lou enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling and volunteering.
Iva Lou is survived by her children, Ruth Elizabeth “Beth” Fisher and her husband, Gene of Augusta, Ga., Roy Elwood “Chip” Breeden, Jr. and his wife, Danielle of Hedgesville, W.Va., seven grandchildren, Eric Lyle Fisher, Rachel Elizabeth Fisher, and David Joel Fisher all of Augusta, Ga., Nathan Eugene Fisher of Atlanta, Ga., Christopher Jacobi Breeden and his wife Sarah, Jonathon David Breeden, Adrianna Hope Breeden all of Hedgesville, two great grandchildren, Skylar Carson Breeden, Jacobi Scott Breeden both of Hedgesville, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Iva Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Roy Elwood “Woody” Breeden, Sr. on June 27, 2019, one infant daughter, Betsy Ann Breeden, one sister, Phyllis Maxine Breeden, one infant brother, Thomas Benjamin Alderton, Jr.
Memorial Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, 5377 Martinsburg Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Tony Pirrone officiating. Private burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
