Irvin Junior Kerns, 78, of Hedgesville, died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born May 11, 1940 in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Edgar R. and Grace M. Yost Kerns.

He was of the Presbyterian faith. He attended Hampshire High School in Romney, W.Va.

He worked as a truck driver for 45 years.

He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #992 in Charles Town, W.Va.

He liked doing equipment repairs and sales.

Surviving are his wife Joan Louise Kline Kerns at home; his children, Irvin Dolly, Hedgesville, Danny Kerns, Inwood, Irvin Kerns, Jr., Flintstone, Md., Kevin Kerns, Hedgesville, Scott Kerns, Warfordsburg, Pa. and Christina Karnahan, Needmore, Pa.; two step sons, Bobby Peterson and Jerry Peterson, both of Hedgesville; three sisters, Margaret Combs, Stephens City, Va., Anna LaFoon of Oregon and Janet Steigerwald, Berlin, Md.; two brothers, Denver Kerns, New London, Iowa and Tommy Kerns of Oregon; 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Landon Kerns and Elmer Kerns.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 22 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs. Rev. Jack W. Hiles, Jr. officiated. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
