Berkeley Springs High School seniors Otice “Dylan” Carder and Natalie Hashem won a second place award for their powerful video “A Life Without You” in the sixth annual West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration’s statewide No School Spirits PSA contest. The video the two created about alcohol can be seen at https://youtu.be/ndnPuh3Ym-s.
The contest encouraged students to submit a video about underage drinking or drinking and driving. Tolsia High School in Wayne County won first place and Webster County High School placed third.
Carder and Hashem, who are members of SADD-Students Against Destructive Decisions, won a $2,500 award for Berkeley Springs High School from the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration with their video. The money will be used for the high school after prom party.
The $2,500 check was presented by agency officials at an April 4 awards ceremony at the high school where Carder and Hashem received certificates of recognition. Students, staff and guests also got to see the three winning videos.
The No School Spirits PSA program is sponsored with grant funding from State Farm Insurance, the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association and the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.
