Henry B. Wilson
1917-2019
Henry Benton Wilson, age 101, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by close family and friends.
Born August 4, 1917 at Stotlers Crossroads, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clarence Elmer and Bertha Elizabeth Hovermale Wilson.
He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Stotlers Crossroads, W.Va.
He attended the Posey Hollow School.
Benton retired, after many years of service, as a carpenter with Pennsylvania Glass Sand Corporation.
He enjoyed fishing, farming and was especially fond of chewing tobacco.
Surviving are his daughter, Vickie Kay Hott and her husband David S. of Berkeley Springs; his daughter-in-law Patricia Adams Wilson of Winchester, Va.; his sister, Esther Marie Kave of Fairmont, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Kay Elizabeth Gebhardt of Shelburne, Vt., and John Robert Shepherd of Berkeley Springs; four great grandchildren, Tess Marie Shepherd of Berkeley Springs, Quinten Matthew, Milo James and Vivienne Mae Gebhardt, all of Shelburne, Vt.; one niece Darlene Wallace of Flint Hill, Va.; one nephew Gregory Lynn Kave of Fairmont.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Alta Marie Hovermale Wilson on March 12, 2012; his son, Ronald Lee Wilson on April 8, 1990; one sister, Freeda Elizabeth Wallace and three brothers, Charles Vernon “Slick” Wilson, Lester Lee “Bill” Wilson and Melvin “Jack” Wilson.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 6752 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Dr. Bernard “Skip” Keels and Pastor Lloyd McCanna officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery.
The family received friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
