Helen M. Dodson
1926-2018
Helen Marie Dodson, age 92, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, August 3, 2018 at The Berkeley Springs Center, LLC.
Born June 10, 1926 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter Francis and Emily Agnes Fleece Neely.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and a very active volunteer.
Helen was a 1945 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
She had worked with the Interwoven Hosiery Mill in Berkeley Springs and retired as an inspector with Londontown Manufacturing in Hancock, Md.
She was a member of the Berkeley Springs Women of the Moose Chapter #1311.
She enjoyed crocheting, bowling, gardening, canning and loved to play canasta at Senior Life Services.
Helen was loving and devoted to her family.
Surviving are her children, Linda Marie Bartlett of Winchester, Va., Gary David Dodson of Anchorage, Alaska, Judy Lee Williams of Hagerstown, Md., and Natalie Ann Carlisle of Berkeley Springs; four sisters, Wilma L. Meyers of Hagerstown, Donna Jean Faith, Shirley D. Weber and M. Carolyn Faith, all of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Walter F. “Junior” Neely, Jr. of Macungie, Pa., and Dennis W. Neely of Berkeley Springs; seven grandchildren, Cary Bartlett of Winchester, Eric Mason of Kearneysville, W.Va., Patrick Bartlett of Indian Trail, N.C., Amanda Dodson Adney, Adam Dodson and Kyle Dodson, all of Anchorage and Kole Carlisle of Berkeley Springs; seven great grandchildren, MaKayla Mason and Emilie Mason, both of Kearneysville, Lauren Bartlett and Audrey Bartlett, both of Winchester, Brayden Bartlett and Keely Bartlett, both of Indian Trail and Miranda Adney of Anchorage and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Edward Dodson on September 10, 1993.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Liberty & S. Washington Streets, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Smith as celebrant. Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 634, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
