1944-2019

Helen Mae Clark, 75, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, January 11, 2019 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born January 6, 1944 in the Old Factory Section of Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Theodore Wills and Pearl Virginia Miller Shirley Wills.

She attended Highland United Methodist Church and was active with vacation Bible school.

She went to public schools in Morgan County.

In addition to being a homemaker, she worked with her husband in their pulpwood and sawmill business, farmed, worked the polls at election time and had been an in-home caregiver.

She liked cooking, sewing, butchering, making apple butter and homemade candy.

She is survived by her children, Diane Clark and Lee Clark, both of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Mary Henderson, Hagerstown, Md. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Clark on March 6, 2008; one daughter, Penny Clark on April 28, 2016; one sister, Dorothy Jenkins and seven brothers, Jim Shirley, Calvin “Buck” Shirley, Charles Shirley, Virgil “Pab” Wills, Johnnie Wills and two infant brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, January 16 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs with Pastor Kenny Mason officiating. Interment will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
