Helen E. Rhoton
1930-2018
Helen Eda Rhoton, 87, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in Warfordsburg, Pa., at the home of her daughter, Sharon. She was under the loving care of Hospice, Sharon, Lynda, Ashlyn, and Cory.
Born September 16, 1930, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Mayette Smith and Viola (Myers) Smith.
Helen was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was a seamstress for many years.
Helen also enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and canning. She loved her grandchildren.
Helen was a loving mother of her five children: daughters, Norma Jean Rhoton Thompson of Hedgesville, W.Va., Donna Hershberger of Hagerstown, Md., Lynda Neff of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Sharon Martin of Warfordsburg, Pa., and son, Randy L. Rhoton Sr. and wife, Tina of Funkstown, Md.; sisters, Betty Orndoff and Darlene Hodson; brothers, Gary (Nancy) Smith, Robert (Barb) Smith, Doug (Gloria) Smith; seven grandchildren, John, Amber, Ashley, Randy Jr., Cory Michael (Ashlyn), Brandon and Dawn; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by four sisters, Wilma Robinson, Annabelle Mellott, Elizabeth Braithewaite and infant sister, Shirley Smith and three brothers, Bud Smith, Frank Smith and Harrison Smith, Sr.
Services were held on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Md.
The Rev. Eileen Flenner will officiate.
Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
