BlackCat Music Cooperative has launched a guitar club at Berkeley Springs High School called the “Guitar Circle,” under the direction of instructor Steve Grigsby.
The club meets two Fridays a month, during sixth period and is available to beginners and accomplished players.
The goal is to have students interact and share their musical talents and learn to play their favorite songs.
Grigsby is an accomplished singer, songwriter, producer and plays various stringed instruments including guitar, banjo, mandolin, slide guitar and more. He helps students with basic guitar playing methods and shares his knowledge of advanced chord progressions for more advanced players.
The “Guitar Circle” also meets on Monday afternoons at 3:45 p.m. at BlackCat Music Shop, 155 Independence Street. The club is open to all high school student players, beginner to advanced.
BlackCat Music Cooperative provides these programs with grants from Families Leading Change and Reverb. BlackCat Music Cooperative’s mission is to provide in-school music opportunities for underserved, at-risk youth in the community.
