Goodwin hired to lead EDA

Morgan County officials unanimously voted to hire Lyn Goodwin as the county’s new Economic Development Authority (EDA) Director last Wednesday, March 17.

Goodwin was one of six applicants to the director post, and the EDA’s top pick for the opening left after Daryl Cowles resigned in December 2020.

Commissioner Sean Forney, who sits on the EDA board and was part of the search team for a new director, said Goodwin has extensive experience and connections with Morgan County.

“We’re excited for her to hit the ground running,” Forney said.

Commissioners hired Goodwin at an annual salary of $55,000 with benefits. The hire will become effective on April 19.

Goodwin currently works for the Jefferson County Development Authority as a Program Manager. From 1993 to 2015, she was the Community Relations Manager for War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs. Goodwin was also a staff writer for the The Journal in Martinsburg prior to working for the hospital.

Forney said Goodwin will take the helm of the EDA at a time when Morgan County is in “a great position” with multiple economic development projects poised to begin.
