A Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund poster carried by parade walkers bore the names and photos of Morgan County veterans that lost their lives in the Vietnam War.
Veterans from the Tri-State Honor Guard led the 59th Annual William H. Norton Memorial Day parade in Paw Paw on Saturday. The parade and its annual festival and car show had a mix of sunny and cloudy skies but fortunately the rain held off until late Saturday afternoon.
This year’s Paw Paw Senior Center parade float honored veterans for their service with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the signs “All Gave Some” and “Some Gave All.”
Paw Paw Volunteer Fire Company’s engine honored the memory of the longtime fire department and community volunteer Louis Herrell who passed away in January. Fire and rescue units from Paw Paw, Slanesville, Great Cacapon, and Oldtown Volunteer Fire Companies were featured in the parade.
2018 Miss Paw Paw Elizabeth Henderson (right) and first runner-up Courtney Moreland (left) smile radiantly in Saturday’s parade. Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen 2017 Sabrina Harrison also was there.
Patriotic horse riders decked out in red, white and blue brought up the rear of the Paw Paw Memorial Day parade.
Lady Liberty also made an appearance in the Paw Paw Memorial Day parade with several friends.
