1947-2020

Gerald Dean Hutchinson, age 72, of Great Cacapon, W.Va., died on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at his residence.

Born October 27, 1947 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Elizabeth Irene “Betty” Twigg Hutchinson of Great Cacapon and the late Lester Dean Hutchinson.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Great Cacapon.

Dean was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Dean was lineman with the Western Union.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid knife collector.

In addition to his mother, Dean is survived by his children, Robert Dean “Bobby” Hutchinson of Hedgesville, W.Va., Rhonda Rae Clark of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Lester Todd Hutchinson of Great Cacapon; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Dean Hutchinson and Maggie Leianne Hutchinson, both of Hedgesville, Lillian Grace Clark of Berkeley Springs.

Graveside memorial services with military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be conducted 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, 791 Nebo Road, Great Cacapon, W.Va., with Pastors Everett Powell and Larry Tomlinson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dean’s memory may be made to the Morgan County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 1337 Pious Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
