Frederick C. Vantz
1927-2019
Frederick Charles Vantz, age 91, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Daikon Senior Living – Ravenwood Campus, in Hagerstown, Md.
Born in Hancock on August 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Hazel A. (Myers) Vantz; and the husband of June M. (Martin) Vantz for sixty-eight years.
He was a graduate of Hancock High School.
He retired as the Postmaster in Hancock after 55 years of service.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; a charter member of the Tonoloway Rod & Gun Club; and he was an avid conservationist.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Fred J. Vantz and his wife, Becky, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and William K. Vantz, of Hagerstown, Md.; one daughter, Lynne M. Nelson and her husband, Frank, of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Sam, Gabrielle, Danielle, Amy and Rachel; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, and one brother.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
