1928-2018

Freda Voneda Swink, age 90, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Monday, August 27, 2018 at her home.

Born August 22, 1928 in Morgan County, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Albert “Hickory” and Mary Elizabeth Shriver Harden.

She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.

She attended Berkeley Springs Elementary School and Berkeley Springs High School.

Freda worked seasonally at local canneries, at the Interwoven Hosiery, at the Warm Springs Restaurant and did babysitting.

She liked traveling, camping and loved to cook and care for her family.

Surviving are her children, Oliver Henry “Butch” Swink III and his wife Janice and Kenneth Lee Swink, Sr. and his wife Linda, all of Berkeley Springs, one sister, Norma Lee Offord of Berkeley Springs, one brother, James Albert Harden, Jr. of Berkeley Springs, two grandsons, Eric Scott Swink and his wife Leslie and Kenneth Lee Swink, Jr. and his wife Jaime, all of Berkeley Springs, three great grandchildren, Cayden Scott Swink, Payton Rylee Swink and Finley Cole Swink, all of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Henry Swink, Jr. on April 15, 2004, two sisters, Lola Mae Unger and Wilma Elizabeth Hovermale, one brother, Lester William Harden and one daughter-in-law, Judith Rae Swink.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Pastor Ada Ambrose officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
