The #4 Berkeley Springs High School Indians Varsity Boys Basketball Team ventured to Mineral County to play the #1 Frankfort Falcons last Wednesday, March 4. The Indians were facing a tall task of trying to knock off the Falcons and keep advancing in the playoffs. With the stakes high the Indians employed a strategy to keep the fast paced Falcons at a slower tempo.
At the end of the first quarter the Tribe did just that however, they did trail 6-2. Sophomore Ty’mir Ross scored the only points for the Indians.
In the second quarter Berkeley Springs outscored Frankfort 9-7, but still trailed 13-11 at the half. Gavin Barkley (four points), Carson Stotler (three points) and Trent Kyne (two points) paced the Indians in the second quarter.
In the third quarter Frankfort found a way to break down the Indian’s slow tempo strategy as they outscored Berkeley Springs 15-8 to take a 28-19 lead. In the final quarter the Falcons continued to score and took the 48-28 win.
Berkeley Springs was led by Barkley (six points), Mickey Gurson (six points), Shawn Lord (five points), Stotler (five points), Kyne (four points) and Ross (two points).
