Frances M. Knable

1930-2020

Frances Mae “Sis” Knable, age 89, formerly of Needmore, Pa., passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020, at the Fulton County Medical Center Long-Term Care, in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born July 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Luther “Gus” and Mary (Mills) Weller.

She was a member of the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, in Hancock, Md.; and the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 Ladies Auxiliary, in Hancock.

She had formerly been employed by the Hancock Orchards; the National Restaurant, in Hancock; and Seely Furniture, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Before her admittance to F.C.M.C., she made it a priority to spend time at the Warfordsburg Senior Center, but her greatest pleasures were spending time with her family and friends; playing Triominos and Bingo; and feeding the birds.

Frances is survived by her sons, Donald L. Weller, of Hancock, Md., Marvin E. Knable and his wife, Sharon, of Needmore, Pa., Barry L. Knable, of Mercersburg, Pa.; a daughter, Linda L. Smith and her husband, Daniel, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; a sister, Betty Hensley; a brother, Floyd Weller; four grandchildren, Chris, Jennifer, Aaron and Justin; and six great-grandchildren, Bryce, Courtney, Chayney, Kaitlin, McKenzie and Laikynn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Karen S. Knable and Ida L. Barnhart; six brothers, Clifford, Sr., Melvin, James, Clyde, Larry and Calvin Weller; and four sisters, Dorothy Burnett, Ethel Thatcher, Judy and Mary Jane Weller.

Funeral services were held at the Orchard Ridge First Church of God, 14128 Orchard Ridge Road, Hancock, on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. Rev. Jeffrey Hawbaker officiated. Burial followed in the adjoining church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
