Evelyn L. Potter
1935-2019
Evelyn Laverne (Manning) Potter, 84, of Williamsport, Md., and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, November 11, 2019 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown.
Born April 14, 1935 in Warfordsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Russell Stanley and Vida (Golden) Manning.
She graduated from Southern Fulton High School in 1953.
She worked as a travel agent with Vic Miller Travel and Richards World of Travel and liked to travel all over the world.
She was a longstanding member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Williamsport, Md.
She was a charter member of the Hager Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals, serving in many capacities. She was best known for her knowledge of parliamentary procedures and in 1996, she was named Secretary of the Year. In 1962, she became an honorary member of the Khyber Rifles in Pakistan. In 1970, she was named Outstanding Young Woman of America.
She liked sports and was a member of the Colts Corral and was a Yankees fan.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Colleen Potter and Coreen Leonard; sister, Elizabeth Michael; two grandchildren, Taryn Leonard and Michael Leonard and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Potter; three sisters, Leona Gordon, Margaret Gordon and Ella Shank and brother, Ronald Manning.
The funeral service was held Saturday, November 16, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Williamsport. Rev. Mark A. Sandell officiated. Burial was at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements were handled by Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
