Edna Carolyn (Edwards) Mitchell Ayers

Edna Carolyn (Edwards) Mitchell Ayers, age 75, of Eldridge, Ala. and formerly of Little Orleans, Md., passed away at the Senator Bob Hooper Hospice House, in Forest Hill, Md., on Monday, September 30, 2019.

Born December 7, 1943, in Nauvoo, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Archie and Emogene (McKleroy) Edwards and the widow of Wade Donald Mitchell, Sr., whom she married July 21, 1966 and who passed away on January 15, 2002 and of her second husband, Junior Ayers.

She was formerly employed with the Allegany County Sanitation Commission, in Maryland.

She loved to sew, crochet and garden.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Wade Mitchell of Severn, Md. and Jerry Dewayne Edwards of Alabama; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Landers and her husband, Keith, of Rosedale, Md.; five grandchildren, Keith, Kaylah, Michael, Korey and Josh; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brandi and Jude; two sisters, Joyce Tucker and Renett Knox, both of Alabama and one brother, Gerald Edwards, also of Alabama.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Hopson and one brother, Raymond Edwards.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, Md. Rev. Terry Martin-Minnich officiated. Interment followed in Piney Plains United Methodist Cemetery in Little Orleans, Md.

The family received friends at the Funeral Home from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Senator Bob Hooper Hospice House, 2007 Klein Plaza Dr., Forest Hill, MD 21050.
