1930-2020

Dorothy Emma “Dottie” Dugan, age 89, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020, at Doey’s House, in Hagerstown, Md.

Born August 23, 1930, in Big Cove Tannery, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry R. and Marie Pearl (Craig) Lynch; and the widow of William Edward Dugan, whom she married in 1952, and who died January 10, 2020.

She was a life-time member of the American Legion Post 561 Auxiliary, and the VFW Post 655 Auxiliary, both in McConnellsburg, Pa.

She and her husband owned the Town Tavern in Hancock, Md.; and Dugan’s Buffalo Farm.

She was the greatest mother in the world.

She is survived by two daughters, Billie Jean Fischer, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., and Lisa S. Weller and her husband, Darrin, of Hancock; four sisters, Betty Lynch, of Big Cove Tannery, Blanche Anderson, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Linda Snow, of Hancock, and Estaline Cromis, of Hagerstown, Md.; two brothers, Lee Lynch, of Hancock, and Merle Lynch, of Hagerstown; two grandsons, Brandon William Fischer and Luke Weller; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Brook Fischer and Brandon Fischer, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, Henry and David Lynch.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, Md., on Thursday, January 23, 2020, from 4 until 8 p.m., and at the church for one hour prior to start of the services. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 11 a.m., at the Damascus Christian Church, 717 Big Cove Tannery Road, Big Cove Tannery, Pa., with Rev. Richard Bernhard officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
