Doris J. Scott
1935-2019
Doris Jean Scott, 83, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, February 2, 2019 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born December 9, 1935 in Ellicott City, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Sherfee and Nannie Mae Thurman Ledbetter.
She was of the Methodist faith.
She earned an associate degree in psychology and sociology from Howard County Community College.
She had worked as a property manager with Harry Weinberg Enterprises in Baltimore, Md.
She liked sewing and had been a homemaker in recent years.
She is survived by her children, Dwight Barth, Berkeley Springs, Bret Barth, Portsmouth, Ohio, Joanne Croak, Princess Anne, Md., Dorilee Kilroy, Laurel, Md. and Philip Billinger, Ocala, Fla.; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Leroy Scott on December 10, 2011 and three sisters, Margaret Gerwig, Edna Feaga and Ina Francis.
Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 16 at Piney Plains United Methodist Church, 13208 Mann Road, Little Orleans, Md. with Pastor Josh Rider officiating. Interment will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
