1930-2018

Donald Clarence Cross, Sr., 88, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, October 29, 2018 at his home.

Born April 20, 1930 in Everett, Pa., he was the son of the late Frank Edward Youngblood and Mary Banita Rankin Cross Youngblood.

He was a Protestant.

He graduated from Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, Md.

He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Risinger-Stotler VFW Post #4019 and Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 in Berkeley Springs.

He worked as a self-employed carpenter.

He liked watching western movies and putting jigsaw puzzles together.

He is survived by his children, Nikki King and Mary Peck, Janice Miller, Sandy Vandemark and Barbara Spielman all of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Charles Cross, Hedgesville; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Joan Ann Griffin Cross on April 28, 2015; one son, Donald Cross, Jr. and two brothers, Stanley Cross and Joseph Cross.

Services and burial will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
