Denise Ann Omps, age 63, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, May 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born November 29, 1957 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of Roy Bobby and Betty Lou McCoy Hovermale of Berkeley Springs.

She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church. Denise was a 1975 class graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

She worked as the administrative manager at Dawson’s Home Center, where she and her husband David are part owner-operators of the company.

Denise enjoyed playing BINGO, gardening, reading books and being with her family and loved celebrating all holidays.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, David Eugene Omps, at home; her children, Jennefer Nichole Omps, Zena Michelle Omps, Benjamin David Omps and his wife Brandi, Megan Ann Bennett and her husband Tyson, all of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Cindy Lou Hovermale of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Wesley “Wes” McCoy of California; six grandchildren, Jeffery Coffman, Brice Coffman, Zachary Taylor, Zander Taylor, Zyler Taylor, Owen Bennett; two great grandchildren, Eli and Abby and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Theresa Jo Ferguson and one brother, Kim Rene “Hop” Hovermale.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Pastor Kenny Mason will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
