Della M. Johnson
1913-2020
Della Mae Johnson, age 106, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at War Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility.
Born May 23, 1913 in Spohrs Crossroads, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Perkins and Ethel Michael Clark.
Della was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
She attended Spohrs Crossroads School in Morgan County.
Della was a homemaker all her life to her family.
Della is survived by her daughter, Peggy Darlene Peck of Berkeley Springs, daughter-in-law, Barbara Irene “Bobbi” Johnson of Berkeley Springs, six grandchildren, Kathy Lynn Helmick of Hancock, Md., Patsy Diane Brinegar of Falling Waters, W.Va., Mark Kevin Johnson, Kimberly Ann Nickles, Kirk William Johnson all of Berkeley Springs, Teresa Renee Kelley of Charles Town, W.Va., 18 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willard Elroy Johnson on January 16, 1971, two sons, Herbert Lester Johnson on September 28, 2014, Bernard Elroy Johnson on May 2, 2018, one daughter, Anna Luella Johnson, three sisters, Kathryn E. Kesecker, Elsie I. Yost, Evelyn L. McBee, two brothers, Norman L. Clark, Boyd E. Clark, one grandson, Randy Elroy Johnson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Pastors Steve Dawson and Doug Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
